After reading your post, I am reminded of this passage:
"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:13
You've nailed it, Tom. I live in Canada and we have a pitiful excuse for a Prime Minister (why are our heads of state so unabashedly craven) and the bald-faced excoriation of our country pisses me off. It's all the way down into the small potatoes politicians as well: my mayor is an unabashedly strident, thick as a plank, woke-braying nitwit. How do these people get elected?! Maybe being in my 60s (late 60s at that!) makes it easier to see what's going on. I did not have an inkling when I was in my 20s. Sadly, I think you're right: it's going to be a bumpy 2024.
"They" control the elections and voting. Always have, I think.
Even when I was a reporter in small-town Georgia, Cherokee County, I recall one district's voting tallies coming in late, much later than anybody else, and people were outright joking that they were holding it back to see how many votes they needed.
Funny thing was, the seemingly better candidate won. Then he got in and did things he said he would never do, including things he had campaigned against.
Good grief. My father (now retired) worked for Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR, as we call it) in the yards moving trains. He said the only men who would ever cheat at (penny ante) cards were the ones who took up positions of authority (union reps). Every damned time.
Your missive is just what I needed to start the year! You have masterfully set the table for 2024; thanks, Tom. Happy New Year, I think. Let's hope it's a good one.

Lovely. Thank you!

Great post Tom. Happy New Year.
Thank you so much, Rick! I hope you have an exciting but safe 2024!

You catch on quickly, Tom; that is precisely what I was thinking about when I wrote it.
