It never would have even occurred to me to go see this movie, but I still appreciate your taking the time to dissect it so it will never occur to me to go see it.

Usually I post my movie reviews on Facebook, but this one got away from me, much longer than it deserves to be, and I'd not posted a non-podcast thing here for a while, so here it is. Thank you for your kind comment!

You're welcome.

BTW: It later occurred to me that, to the best of my recollection, the last Disney movie I went to see was Mary Poppins (I was just a wee tad), so the idea of it never occurring to me to go to see a Disney movie seems to have some history... ;)

To be fair, Disney has made many excellent films since MARY POPPINS, including the sequel, MARY POPPINS RETURNS with Emily Blunt in the title role; not as good as the perfect original, but surprisingly charming and she nails it, which I never could imagine until I actually saw it.

Even last year's INSIDE OUT 2 was a satisfying family film, and the superhero comedy DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE was legit hilarious.

But the Rat Kingdom churns out so much garbage compared to quality, when it used to be the inverse. They're a corporation with too many hands in the pie, so when something really good escapes it's more by luck and fancy than design.

I actually saw a poster for this at the bus stop about 2 days earlier and, for some reason, I thought it was an anti-drug psa ad or a magazine cover promotion or anything else that could be advertised except an entertainment product.

I rarely recognize the people in these ads nowadays, so I don't see them as relevant and my mind instantly blocks them out. More importantly, I don't care about any of these people and know their product isn't for me -- all they make is garbage anyways. Even the established talent of yesteryear has embraced selling out as acceptable.

The worst part is nobody is held accountable for it anymore. I don't mind a genuine talent having a payday every now and then, but now it's their North star... with an occasional prestige film thrown in. It's upside-down world and shame is dead.

"[N]obody is held accountable for it anymore." Exactly. Bobby Igor's oversight has destroyed billions and billions of dollars of I.P. value for Disney/Marvel/Star Wars and he just bulldozes on. The company's mixed bag successes in animation (INSIDE OUT 2, MOANA 2) are really all they've got left for multiplex, especially now that the only billion-dollar superhero they seem to have left is Ryan Reynolds' DEADPOOL and he's self-immolating his career on the alter of his crazy power-mad wyfe.

It will be interesting to see how badly damaged Disney Pixar's TOY STORY brand is after the BUZZ LIGHTYEAR spinoff bombed and now they're going back to the well for TOY STORY 5. Marvel is struggling badly and "Star Wars Is Dead." Bobby Igor needs to GO! Accountability, PLEASE.

Maybe my mind is in the gutter, I wasn't wearing my glasses or Disney is sneaking in their suggestive body parts as they're known to do. The poster on the left, when I looked at first glance, right in the center, I thought I was looking at a woman's fat stomach leading down to both legs. It's the guy in the center wearing the red mask. It fooled me. Anyone else see that?

Maybe the character is well known, so your eyes recognized him right off while my eyes were just taking in the whole scene.

I've never watched any of the movies.

When you state it that way, I can kinda see what you mean, but that was not something I would've noticed had you not pointed it out.

I was familiar with "The Thunderbolts" existence in comic book world, but not any of the specifics. I recognize a few characters from the poster — Deadpool, Winter Soldier, Electra, Hawkeye, Ghost Rider, Swamp Thing, Red Hulk, Punisher and maybe a couple I’m not so sure about — but far more are obscure to me. Best I can tell, there is only one member of The Thunderbolts in the comic books who is in the Disney Marvel version of the team. None of them appear to be midgets.

Yeah, I'm over the superhero movies. They really should have taken a breather after finishing up with the avengers movies. I haven't been to a theater since Dune 2, but tempted to go see Sinners because I keep hearing rave reviews. Have you seen that one yet?

Yes, I have seen SINNERS. It's a very good film with multiple subtextual levels, and Evil but not unfairly so.

I've not written about SINNERS with any depth, because it deserves a deep dive and I've not fully processed everything I took away from it. Definitely worth seeing, but brace yourself and put up your spiritual defenses.

Thank you for the immensely entertaining review! It's truly amazing how Dis(aster)ney turned the Capeshit endless money machine into a money loser. Business schools should study this, but since the answer is "they went woke and went broke" they won't.
