The conversation around tariffs is maddeningly retarded I just have to get this off my chest. In every other circumstance these globalist weasels will reject the conclusions of classical economics (what we might call libertarian economics today), but when it comes to tariffs full blown socialists will paraphrase Ricardo without a hint of irony. There's not another tax (besides capital gains tax!) that these people won't advocate for, yet this is how they react to tariffs.
These are the same people that want congestion pricing in NYC by the way. Trade barriers are good when you place them on working stiffs trying to make a living, but not Apple or Nike. Barriers on domestic oil extraction are good, but just don't mess with barriers to import cheap plastic junk or every last Uzbek on planet earth.
Anti-tariff arguments can be safely ignored. It's a totally dishonest conversation. Does anyone talk about local sales tax this way, even though it's almost the same thing? Or any of the other dozens of taxes we all pay to fund the Pritzker's penis abbatoirs.
Yes, exactly. Great point about "congestion pricing."
Moreover, even if you know nothing about tariffs, all you have to do is compare who's arguing against them and the points they make vs. the people arguing they need to be given a shot. It's the exact same morons, ideologues and brainwashed stooges who cheered the lockdown, etc., vs. the more level-headed reality-based crowd. Predictable as the moonrise.
Sharyl Attkisson points out where the “experts” we’re supposed to listen to were wrong in the past….but still listen to them because the media is stupid too.
Sharyl Attkisson is a forever heroine for bitchslapping mass murdering childhood vaxx maniac Stinky Pete Hotez in the courts. She's right about things almost all the time. Huge respect. Thank you for the link!
Thanks, Tom, for the tutorial on tariffs. The multi national corporations are obviously going to be affected by the tariffs, something I didn’t consider. Their monopolies need to be broken up regardless. BTW, whatever happened to Citizens United?
Excellent post that I shared with my group. Keep up the great writing! George Soros is dead & roasting in a fire pit. He is now a crispy critter. No frazzledrip for him anymore!!
A couple of weeks back I was driving home from work. My route takes me on the mini-freeway that goes over my town's inner-city neighborhoods. Smack in the middle of that area, easily visible from the freeway, there appeared a billboard sign that reads:
Tariffs are a tax on your groceries.
Paid for by the government of Canada
I've been busy so I keep meaning to look into that but forgetting, but is that even legal? Is it ethical? I see why the cabal infested government of Canada would be against tariffs, but why go so far as to plant these signs in towns like mine? I live on the opposite end of the continent from Canada, on the beautiful Gulf of America. That billboard raises a lot of questions and inklings, none of them good.
Conversely, many of the people who were right about Covid have been right about almost everything since then like you, Tom.
I don’t trust them.
“Also note how nearly all the same people screeching about how this is the end of the planet are the very same people who have been wrong about nearly everything”
A country based entirely on consumerism guarantees a hollowed out society. All that’s left is an elite class who can still afford to consume & a service class that is slave to the elite. The top 10% can afford to take a hit to their portfolios & still their everyday lives will be unchanged. The middle class has taken hit after hit making this 10% uberly wealthy - they can take one for the team…or at least their fellow man.
Great article, and I totally agree on tariffs. Let's give it some time and see where it goes, it can't be worse than the blow-up of the asset bubble we've been inflating for 15 years.
Fun tariff story. I was in a meeting with my exec team a few weeks ago, and our CEO was ranting about tariffs and how bad they are going to be. Our team is about 50/50 on the issue, so we sat in polite silence while he said his piece. A few minutes later our sales director was giving his market update. We are losing share because Chinese companies are dumping similar product into North America below their own cost to manufacture and well below domestic cost. I spoke up and said "we need some tariffs on resins from China to stop such an unfair trade practice! Who do we know in the advocacy and lobbyist space who can plead our case to DC?" The sales director managed to stifle a smile and the rest of the team just stared at me, confused.
Then, this week, we had another conversation - will we be able to raise prices as domestic supply becomes favored, or will prices be pushed downward due to the scramble to find new supply? Amongst our group, half made the case for higher prices and half made the case for lower. These are experienced, lifetime industrial players, and no one knows.
I've heard from several people in the past couple weeks about terrible C-suite management. The economic pressure may be causing some phonies to snap. We also need to keep in consideration what the mRNA vaxx may be doing to some people's minds as the brain barrier is breached by the spike proteins.
I agree that nobody knows exactly what's going to happen, but that murkiness may be what's pushing some foreign nations into cutting a deal with Trump. Time will tell!
I am absolutely seeing that murkiness and I believe it is vaxx related.
Regarding the panic in the C-suite, I listened to an interview with Scott Bessent who said directly "our policies are not going to be for the top 10% who own assets. The bottom 90% don't own stock, don't have investments, and many do not own homes. They live a completely different reality than do the top 10%, and our policies will benefit them to a greater degree."
It's okay with me to lose 20% of my portfolio to salvage the working class and bring back making stuff to the USA, long-term. It would've happened one way or the other, anyway. The debt was unsustainable. Maybe we can yet save America for my (and all of our!) children.
lol . love your convo w Grok. and... great column.. thanks for bringing UMA and the WEINER LAPTOP back to the top of our thoughts where it needs to be til its recovered and RESOLVED>
Sending you a nice wish for a limp d+ck. You must be a real catch. Probably haven’t had intimacy in decades. And you call women: ugly, HOs, losers, and DEI. We are coming for your vitality and career.
Spicy! A rare actual public threat! I sent you a PM, hopefully we can work this out!
But to the general public who might take Yo Momma (not my momma; my momma's dead) seriously, I'll repeat for the dozenth time:
The current cultural female paradigm is caught on the razor's edge of the Lilith sex/death archetype the Eve mother/lover archetype.
The former is rooted in darkness and death, of post-birth "abortion," the elevation of occult sisterhoods and mockery of married motherhood, the symbolic and literal castration of boys and men and so on; the later is about love and nurturing and the creation of new life.
I have never denied that I am an outspoken if not controversial writer when it comes to criticizing the Lilith mentality that has destroyed American women and much of the divine feminine in the West, (as well as ideological Feminism & Feminists for that matter). But roughly half the women of the world I respect, admire and support. Anyone who reads my work at length will see my open support of women whom I put on a pedestal of honor and esteem.
Hopefully that clears that smear up. Please pray for the enlightenment of "Yo Momma" (not my momma; my momma's dead), as well as my spiritual protection against any dark forces "Yo Momma" may try to summon. Thank you!
Also, if you're going to call people "misogynistic," and take such a strident stand, you should probably at least know how to spell the word correctly! It make you look like an idiot, or maybe 12 years old (or both?).
Again, I'm flattered somewhat by your attention. You literally created a Substack identity merely to troll me! Impressive, I must really have gotten inside your head and triggered you.
But as I pointed out in my PM to you, which you've not had the class nor dignity to reply, you're whiffing on the Zeitgeist while commenting publicly as an anonymous coward. Time is telling a transference to transparency and honesty, while you are still living in 2021 and taking cheap shots from the shadows. I don't think that will work out for you.
If you'd like to engage in public debate about my worldview vs. yours, I again and now publicly invite you to engage and we can stream for posterity. If not, if you chose to stay secret and not defend your case, it proves your true cowardly colors. I'll now be able to confidently stand by that observable fact to state with demonstrable evidence that it is YOU who are a weak person. Cowardly. Spineless. Anonymous. Lizardly.
A strong person -- LIKE ME -- makes their case and beliefs and opinions known and puts their name behind it. You cannot do that. You live in fear of who you are. That means you lose. You're the weak one. So weak. You're a Loser who's projected your impotence upon me, and I reject it.
Sorry, but I wasn't a psych minor for nothing! Go away now.
Tom what are your thoughts regarding the twin white student who was stabbed to death by a black student? Does it seem occult-like to you? I do not think they were involved in anything as such but how odd with the timing, the victim being a twin, the white/black dynamic, and the emphasis on it being under a tent. I always love to hear your ideas. It was such a sad, senseless death regardless.

We have eyes in you. You are a weak man with hateful mysoginistoc tendencies and no sex life. It’s already limp.
You likely meant "on" me, not "in" me?
Also, if you're going to call people "misogynistic," and take such a strident stand, you should probably at least know how to spell the word correctly! It make you look like an idiot, or maybe 12 years old (or both?).

Get an actual life instead of hiding behind your screen spewing hate doing drugs. You are irrelevant. I don’t debate human turds.
You know, the more I read about this Soros character, the less I care for him.
Agree with 99% of what you are saying! Nice work again!
On the tariffs issue, I had to politely disagree with Thomas Sowell on this one.
Still waiting for you to write a piece that doesn’t reference someone giving or getting a blow job.
"Still waiting for you to write a piece that doesn’t reference someone giving or getting a blow job." They run the world! Thanks for your comment? ;-)

Most people missed something in 2020 -- Trump merged The Fed under The Treasury. Powell is merely plausible deniability.

Great read, as usual. BTW: the link at the end of the sentence, "Seruga’s research and explanation can be found here." doesn't go anywhere.
Thank you for letting me know. I've amended, but here's the link straightaway:
